BACK BAR USA Hosts “For the Love of Cocktails” at Mandalay Bay

BACK BAR USA, in partnership with world-renowned mixologist and author Tony Abou-Ganim, United States Bartenders’ Guild (USBG), Delano Las Vegas, Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino and Herbs & Rye, hosted its 2nd annual “For The Love Of Cocktails” cocktail culture celebration in February at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino and Delano Las Vegas. The weekend festivities included the “Meet The Masters Wine Dinner” 12 at Aureole inside Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino and the grand gala at Alain Ducasse’s miX, located on the 64th floor of Delano Las Vegas.

Guests of the “Meet The Masters Wine Dinner” enjoyed an evening of handcrafted cocktails, a five-course meal prepared by Aureole Executive Chef Vincent Pouessel and rare wines carefully paired with each course by Las Vegas’ most distinguished sommeliers including Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino and Delano Las Vegas’ Harley Carbery; Bellagio’s Jason Smith, MS; Charlie Palmer’s Steven Geddes, MS; and ARIA’s Nick Hetzel, MS.

Event attendees also enjoyed an exciting lineup of cocktail seminars led by master mixologists including, “Seeds to the Glass” with Bridget Albert and Debbi Peek; “For The Love Of Rum & Rhum” with Francesco Lafranconi; “I’ll Take Manhattans” with Dale DeGroff; and “Making Great Cocktails at Home: Hands On With Tony Abou-Ganim,” a ladies-only cocktail seminar.

The highly-anticipated grand gala included more than 30 mixology stations featuring original cocktails crafted by local mixologists from all over Las Vegas and hors d’oeuvres by miX Executive Chef Bruno Riou. Attendees

Proceeds of the gala benefited the Helen David Relief Fund for Bartenders Affected by Breast Cancer, a charitable organization started by Abou-Ganim in honor of his late aunt that assists women in the bar industry by providing pre-screening services for breast cancer.
